AIC Demonstrate Pioneering NVMe-of Solutions with Kalray's Intelligent Processors at ISC 2018

06/25/2018

Frankfurt, Germany – AIC Inc., (from now on referred to as “AIC”), a leading player in server and storage solutions industry worldwide, is proud to announce that it is showcasing the latest NVMe product series at the International Super Computing trade show in Frankfurt from June 25 to June 27 with Kalray (FR0010722819 - ALKAL), a pioneer in processors for new intelligent systems. AIC will demonstrate ‘Mission Peak’, a new high density, all NVMe Flash storage array along with its NVMe over fabric JBOF.

AIC Mission Peak is one of the very first flash storage arrays to make full use of Samsung’s new 1U NF1 Small Form Factor SSD, which includes up to 36 front-serviceable NF1 SSD bays with hot-swap functionality. Samsung’s updated form factor also ensures AIC’s array delivers dramatic improvements in memory storage capacity, IOPS, scaling and space utilization when compared to other 1U rack servers. With Kalray Target Controller solution, Mission Peak unleashes the full performance of NVMe SSDs and is very well suited to the requirements of cloud service companies, in particular, the intense and unrelenting needs of their datacenters - where the pressure never lets up for greater storage capacity and processing speed.

Kalray Target Controller solution not only supports the NVM Express protocols but also offers extra resources in-situ (i.e. more than 100 cores out of 288 of the Kalray Bostan2 processor), providing customers with smarter storage solutions. In-situ computing also saves significant network bandwidth, running Input/Output-intensive applications closer to the storage capacity. Such tasks as RAID/erasure coding, deduplication, compression, encryption or analytics, deep learning and artificial intelligence algorithms can be directly offloaded from the storage server.

Rex Chu, VP Sales at AIC, has declared: “Mission Peak is a direct response to the rapidly increasing need for data-intensive applications and High Performance Computing in datacenter environments. The NVMe-oF certification demonstrates the level of maturity of the Kalray solutions in the market. They address customers’ needs for systems that bring analytics and other computing capabilities closer to storage.

Randall Skelley, Kalray’s VP Data Center Business Unit, has added: “This is an important milestone for Kalray. We contribute to advancing NVMe technology and helping storage companies build intelligent systems for optimized data centers. The intelligent Kalray processors and associated software, delivers a unique all-in-one system solution.
