Combines E8 Storage’s Software and Mellanox’s Switch, AIC’s Visionary In-house Design and Samsung’s New NF1 Small Form Factor SSDs to Unleash Ground-breaking Performance

05/25/2018

Taipei, Taiwan, May 25, 2018 – AIC Inc., (from now on referred to as “AIC”) a leading player in server and storage solutions industry worldwide, today announced it will continue its promotion strength on ‘Mission Peak’, a new high density, all NVMe Flash storage array. The new array is a direct response to the rapidly increasing need for data-intensive applications such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and High Performance Computing in datacenter environments.

E8 Storage’s recently launched stand-alone storage software sits at the heart of AIC’s Mission Peak array, combining Mellanox’s high-performance networking switch, allowing it to unleash the full performance of NVMe SSDs with no compromises on reliability, performance or availability. Mission Peak is also the very first flash storage array to make full use of Samsung’s new 1U NF1 Small Form Factor SSD, which includes up to 36 front-serviceable NF1 SSD bays with hot-swap functionality. Samsung’s updated form factor also ensures AIC’s array delivers dramatic improvements in memory storage capacity, IOPS, scaling and space utilization when compared to other 1U rack servers.

We are excited to be bringing our new Mission Peak array to the market.” explains Michael Liang, the President and CEO of AIC. “These arrays are very well suited to the requirements of cloud service companies and, in particular, the intense, unforgiving and unrelenting needs of their datacenters - where the pressure never lets up for greater capacity and processing speed within the most efficient, space-saving format. Mission Peak provides a solution for this tough environment through a combination of our innovative development, Samsung’s advanced NF1 form factor, combining Mellanox’s high-performance networking switch and E8 Storage’s industry-respected storage management software.”

With dual-socket Intel Skylake-SP CPUs and up to 24 DDR4 DIMMs of memory, AIC’s new array is ideal for I/O-intensive local workloads, such as real-time analytics and database servers as well as financial and trading applications, business intelligence and transactional processing. Tests suggest that this 1U system can process about 10 million random read IOPS, which triples the IOPS performance of a 1U server equipped with 2.5-inch SSDs. A petabyte capacity can be achieved using only two of the 576TB systems.

“There’s no let-up on the need for enterprises to scale their storage requirements while reducing their storage footprint and improving storage performance,” comments Zivan Ori, Co-founder and CEO of E8 Storage. “This delicate balancing act is only possible when storage arrays deploy strong, sophisticated and reliable storage management software. That’s why we are delighted to be working in partnership with AIC, Samsung and Mellanox to bring these new Mission Peak SSD arrays to market.”

"With the timely introduction of Samsung's 8TB NF1 NVMe SSD, today's high-performance datacenters are empowered with a breakthrough solution that offers unprecedented space, performance and scaling advantages," said Chanik Park, vice president of NAND memory planning at Samsung Electronics. "We are thrilled to showcase the NF1 SSD in technical collaboration with AIC and its choice of E8 Storage's cutting-edge software-based storage management technology which presents new heights for next-generation datacenter solutions."

“As the industry’s leading provider of high-performance networking technology, Mellanox offers the most efficient end-to-end InfiniBand and Ethernet smart interconnect solutions and services for servers and storage,” said Kevin Deierling, vice president of marketing, Mellanox Technologies. “Our solutions include unique storage acceleration hardware that delivers unmatched throughput and latency and thus improves overall data center computing efficiency, by delivering data faster to applications and unlocking system performance.”
